Conference Coalition Partners 2009

The organizing collective of the NYC Grassroots Media Conference wanted to approach organizing the conference in a new, dynamic and more inclusive way. In order to create deeper connections with some of the organizations who have participated in our past programs and projects, we invited a select number to participate in the organizing effort - helping to envision new workshop offerings, review proposal submissions, assist in strategic outreach and help shape the planning effort. Our goal is to ultimately create a stronger, more cohesive and more effective event.

We specifically reached out to groups that:

Understand that media is a political issue

Share our belief that reforming our media system is a crucial step in realizing social justice goals

Expressed interest in participating in community dialogue and networking efforts to raise awareness about these issues and strategize solutions

Were willing to devote resources (i.e. time, outreach, publicity, etc.) to promote the goals of the NYCGMC and participate in our conferences and events.
