Open Source and Free Culture: Video and Media Distribution

Short Description:
Learn more about taking advantage of free software for grassroots activist and DIY media and video. We'll briefly talk about copyright, copyleft, and then focus on video publishing with free and open source software.

Presenter One Info:
Dean works with the Participatory Culture Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to making mass media more democratic as it moves online. He has been very active in the free culture movement for the past few years. Recent projects include: http://getmiro.com http://youtomb.mit.edu
Presenter Two Info:
Elizabeth Stark is a visiting fellow at the Yale Internet and Society Project, a board member for the Students for Free Culture, and co-founder of the Harvard Free Culture chapter. She is active in many progressive political movements, especially those related to access to information, copyright reform, and digital freedoms.
Note: there is a chance that Elizabeth will be traveling during this conference, but she's going to do her best to make it.
Presenter Three Info:
Forest Mars is a digital technologist currently developing social media and video infrastructure at the nation's largest community access center. He brings a background in Cybernetics to projects for social change including New York's only Free Internet Cafe & Technology Center and the first WiFi Internet Provider in the city.
