MNN Youth Channel Presents Public Service Announcement Workshop (PSA-in-a-Day)

Short Description: 

Participants will use video cameras and their collective creativity to create public service announcements (video messages). The session begins with an overview of media literacy and the language of video including camera shots, points of view, and cuts. After breaking into groups, participants will work together to brainstorm ideas, storyboard the shots, and shoot their PSAs.

Malik S. Parker was born in Brooklyn, New York. In 2001 he enrolled in an acting class with City Lights Youth Theater (CLYT) in Manhattan. While at City Lights he stumbled on to MNN Youth Channel where he has maintained an affiliation for the past 6 years. Malik is very proud to be part of the Youth Channel.

Vanessa Bateau
Presenter Two Info: 

Vanessa Bateau produced her first documentary Scrolii, about her lifelong struggle with scoliosis, as a participant in Reel Works Teen Filmmaking. "Scrolii" has since been featured in the San Diego’s Women’s Film Festival, Urban Visionaries Film Festival as well as on Uth TV and Youth Channel. She takes great pride in being a Peer Trainer at Youth Channel.
