Short Description: 

Who is hijacking and erasing the historical memory of women of color: Those who produce and profit from media perpuating and reaffirming racial/gender stereotypes or those who are consuming this media? This workshop looks at current media trends and resources in order to reconceptualize diversification of the media landcape.

Joyce Angela Jellison is the director of Write Out Loud:Transforming Our Lives Through Writing Our Truths. Ms. Jellison has spoken at Regis College and presented at the WE Learn Conference in Rhode Island. She has also taught at Project Hope, Crittenden Womens Union, Orchard Garden Public School, Boston Health Careers Academy, Cambridge Commnity Services Cap Program and the Center for New Words.
Ms. Jellison is an award winning journalist and the author of three books, Where Everything Fits Beautifully, Black Apple and Shhh..the secret language of black women (to be released this summer.

Tokumbo Bodunde works for the filmmaking organization Chica Luna Productions. She also teaches race, gender and media at Manhattan College and William Paterson University. She screened her documentary, Black Girls Face: R. Kelly, at the Reel Sisters Film Festival and Women, Action & Media Conference. Tokumbo blogs at bodunde.wordpress.com.
