Taking Back Wall Street : DIY Corporate Research for Activists and Mediamakers

Submitted by aggie on Tue, 04/14/2009 - 11:17pm
Short Description:

A hands-on session designed for media makers and activists looking to challenge the corporate status quo and mainstream media coverage of the economic crisis, and construct critical analyses of corporate activity and relationships. The wealth of available information on corporations and industries can be overwhelming - this workshop will teach participants how to research more efficiently and effectively, utilizing freely available electronic resources such as fedspending.org, thomas.gov and sec.gov to uncover valuable financial, legal and political data. By focusing on free resources and drawing on relevant examples from corporate watchdog and Israeli divestment efforts, the workshop will give attendees the skills and strategies necessary to conduct targeted research for their diverse communities and campaigns.
