Workshop Proposal Guidelines:

Length:

All sessions will be allotted 1.5 hours. Special consideration can be made for a limited number of double (three hour) sessions based on time and space availability.

Format:

Workshop/Presentations should have no more than 4 panelists with time allocated for in-depth discussion with audience participants.

Content:
We are seeking sessions that raise awareness about Media Justice; that demonstrate how media relates to and can be used by grassroots and social justice campaigns; that highlight community media projects; and that analyze the role media can and should play in local and global movements. We encourage
proposals that involve skill-sharing, as well as youth-led and youth-centered workshops.

Priority will be given to proposals that address this year’s conference theme: MEDIA JUSTICE IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

• Owning Our Own: Creating People’s Media and Rejecting Corporate Systems
• Youth Media: Do It Yourself: Make Your Own Public Service Announcement

Proposals should consider the NYC Grassroots Media Coalition’s goal to include diverse voices in every session, especially in terms of race, ethnicity, age, gender, and sexuality.
